Trusting Self
My journey through life continues to amaze and fascinate me. Each day I find opportunities to trust myself and our wonderful Universe. As I allow myself to listen to the wisdom within, I am realizing that I have exactly what I need to chart my own path with ease.
This is not something I say lightly. Many years of denial and struggle, as well as insight and awareness have brought me back to a truth I knew when I was a young child.
Looking to others for my answers has never really worked out. Although it may sometimes seem easier to go along with what friends, relatives and/or society at large has decided works, the truth of another is not our truth. If we decide that fitting in requires pleasing those around us and we unquestioningly live our lives in that way, we are not honoring the eternal and unequivocal wisdom within ourselves.
No one else can or will ever know our truth. The wisdom I have about my life may not be “right” for you and the wisdom you have about your life may not meet my needs. If I know I need a sled and you tell me a wagon is better, my decision to pick the sled or the wagon will affect the journey.
In our ever-expanding Universe there is room for each individual expression of Oneness. What would happen if we were more supportive of each other’s truth? What would happen if we accepted that we cannot know anything for anyone else?
Does it not make sense that all we can really offer each other is encouragement and a mirror? When that encouragement, along with our own inner knowing, allows us to uncover the truth in our heart and soul, life takes on new meaning.
Our planetary history is filled with individuals who have found ways to offer this encouragement. Sometimes I wonder if there are but two types of enduring stories humankind continues to tell. I suspect both are true. We either have exactly that which we seek (The Wizard of Ozis such a story) or we are fine just the way we are (Forest Gump reflects this viewpoint). All the ancillary plot twist of fighting evil and overcoming adversity are little more than metaphor for facing the doubts and fears that keep us from trusting ourselves.
I would guess that each of us can remember a time when something or someone offered a mirror that allowed us to look within and find the answers we needed. Those answers, the wisdom to find those answers always has and always will live within each of us.
