Children of the New Garden

by Lisa Dunlap

You are the dirt, the soil, the earth

Your scent is of life itself, recognized by all who breathe you in.

You are the wind, caressing with the loving touch of the Beloved.

You lie in the grass and become one with the earth.  You have leaves in your
hair and dirt under your fingernails.

You are a tree.  As you sit in the dirt, your legs become roots reaching down
into the earth and your arms reach high in jubilation to the heavens.
Your branches are happy and heavy with fruit.

You are the fruit.  Your taste is sweet.  You offer yourself to anyone who wishes
to taste you.  Each one of your fruity cells contains the wisdom of all eternity,
there for all to reach.

You are the rain shower refreshing the earth.  You build and release
to the beckoning call of life.   And sometimes you release
at your whim because you delight in who you are and what you bring.

You are the children of the new garden.  You are whole, complete, made for the earth and of the
earth.  You love, wonder, give, receive, fall, get up, fall
and get up again, try, fail, succeed, learn, celebrate, cry and laugh all because
you were created to do so, by a Beloved Spirit.

You are free to come and go from this garden.  Stay as long as you like
or choose to journey beyond this garden, taking with you the love of all of us
and the earth soul that lives inside of you.  Create this new garden wherever
you go, for it is you and you are it.
