Manifestation and the Vision Board
Do Vision Boards Really Work? I didn’t think so, until…
I actually decided to make one of my own. So here is the story. Long before “The Secret” movie came out, a minister friend gave a sermon about writing our visions. In the sermon, he suggested creating a vision or dream board to go along with our written statements. Well, I only took him up on half the challenge. I wrote out the vision I wanted for my life and it wound up in a box somewhere, forgotten. About a year ago now, I decided I would create a vision board of my own. Truth be told, although not a skeptic, I just did not believe having the board in front of me would make that much of a difference. I was not sure how the act and process of both creating and seeing my vision on a consistent basis would help me to manifest the things I want in my life any faster. Oh how wrong I was! Just the process alone was invigorating: clipping images of what I want for my life and my future, deciding where to place them on the board, adding and subtracting until everything felt “perfect” and was in alignment with all I currently want and had space for “more” the universe may add. The process helped me clarify those things I really want in my life and allowed me to begin to get a sense for how they would look and feel.
I felt such a sense of satisfaction looking at the life I desire to create for myself in “living” color. I felt a sense of excitement I had not felt in some time. From the moment I got the board “finished” (as our preferences shift we can always add or delete things), things started “shifting” in my life or in my world or in reality. In less than 30 days I was completely out of a “messy” relationship that had been in the process of ending for some time, I started dating someone new (we are still together and I am happier than ever), my business life began expanding, and I began a new strategic alliance that has turned out better than anticipated.
Since creating my vision board, many have asked what ‘do I do with it and how do I use it now almost 2 years later?’ I realized it is not enough to simply put the items on my board. To stay connected to the excitement and enthusiasm I felt about my future the day I created my board, it hangs in my bedroom. Every morning I spend a few moments before starting my day in meditation. Part of that time is dedicated to those things I am grateful for now and things I am grateful for that are on the way (my vision board). Although my vision board is framed, as I find new images that represent new desires I would like to manifest, I add them. I use my vision board in my work: speaking and doing workshops, and find it inspires others to begin their manifestation process.
Sure some “skeptics” may be saying that the vision board did not cause all of that to happen. Rather than argue that point, what I will say is that the board has helped focus my attention on all that I truly desire. Consistent with the law of attraction, what we focus on, we align our energetic vibration to. With that alignment, we begin to attract that which we are focused on. To quote Oprah, “what I know for sure” is that things I have wanted all my life that I have been “pushing for” have begun to manifest from the simple habit of acknowledging my desires in the form of my vision board on a consistent basis. If my story has not convinced you to create your own vision board, try it yourself and see what happens. I would love to hear your success stories.
