A Place For Soulfood

Hazy summer afternoons
slow my bones.
I rest on cool grass
beneath the maple
in the yard and
my eyes trace
twisting branches.
Fanning leaves
soothe my soul,
a gentle breeze
caresses my face
like a lover’s hand.
Temptation to search
for food at the mall
evaporates.
