The Energy Connection
Lynn Hull and Julie Molner
What was always suspected by the spiritual community, science has proven - everything in the universe is energy and we are interconnected with everyone and everything else. Humans are composed of energy fields that continually change and flow. These energy fields are affected by the food we eat, how we manage our physical structure, our thinking, our emotions and our sense of self.
Examples:
- Physical energy is affected by our intuition, beliefs, habits, values, communication, etc.
- Our mental energy (state of mind) affects our physical energy, communication, use or non-use of our intuition and so on.
Because we are connected to the universal energy, we energetically affect others. Think about the infectious nature of laughter or the impact of mass hysteria.
When our body, mind and spirit are in alignment, when we do not resist the natural flow of energy, we achieve optimum levels of health and well-being. Our thinking is clear, we make better choices, are more at peace, live more authentically and joyously. Let’s take a look at some of these energies and ways we can tap into them for our benefit.
INTUITIVE ENERGY - The Most Intriguing
Intuition comes to us in a gut feeling or in a flash of light. Science has documented that experiences do not first go to our brain but to our intestinal tract - our gut. When we have a gut feeling(some feel it elsewhere in the body or sense light flash through them), it is our intuition informing us. These are messages that go beyond our intellectual comprehension. If we do not use our intuition, we lose our ability to recognize and trust it. Therefore, we need to draw upon it regularly.
Hone your intuition by practicing it daily. Pay attention to random thoughts, ideas and urges that seem to just pop into your head. Do you ever experience, while driving or doing another task, an unrelated thought entering your mind? Follow through on the thought; see what’s there. Analytical thinking is not able to make sense of the impulse because it is not originating in the analytical part of the brain. If you do not know what the impulse means, check it out anyway. If you approach it light-heartedly, you will have some fun. Your inner wisdom is always right; it is trying to tell you something. What is sometimes off track is the interpretation. Simply listen and get familiar with that inner voice all over again.
PHYSICAL ENERGY - The Most Familiar
People have different levels of natural energy. Some of us are more high-spirited and active, some serene, some physically strong and fast, and others have great endurance. We all need balance that is suited to us. There are times to pace ourselves and times to stretch or challenge ourselves. Pacing can take the form of relaxation or whatever feels best. We can listen to our body to learn what it needs. Stretching is that extra push that takes us to our edge but not over it. Trying something new can be a stretch and can recharge our physical energy. Stretching also uplifts our mental and emotional energy which positively impact our behavior and communication.
COMMUNICATIVE ENERGY - One of The Most Powerful
Communicating (what we say or don’t say and how well we listen) is a process of sending and receiving energy that we can manage so it has a positive impact.
Positive communication energy helps us create and remain in relationship with ourselves and others. How we speak and listen is crucial. A great place to start is to develop a greater sense of self which gives us the greater ability to be generous and compassionate with other people’s views; the greater our ability to meet them where they are and avoid unnecessary conflict. Meet them were they are points us to look, as best we can at an issue or situation through the eyes of the other person(s) ; placing ourselves intheirshoes and understanding whattheir realitymight be.
Taking responsibility for our impact while speaking in a direct, authentic and courteous manner creates positive communication, positive energy. We encourage you to be authentic and straightforward, strong and passionate, but not emotive. To have the impact you intend, you must also be respectful of your listener(s). Intended impact is about finding the path to say what you want in such a way that moves the conversation forward positively.
It is crucial that we know who we are at our core in order to create this powerful energy. Uncovering and honoring our values is one way to know ourselves better. Values are the qualities that reflect the deepest truth of who we are and trigger most of our thoughts and actions. Values give our lives meaning and purpose. Check them out by reflecting on a time when life seemed perfect. What was so wonderful then? What was the inner root of these feelings? What values were honored? The words we use to express our values may differ. Examples of typical values are: integrity, freedom, adventure, and honesty. Others name their values as woo-hoo, maverick,Mr. Bear -the key is that they resonate for the person owning the value.
When we live in alignment with our values, we begin to accept and appreciate ourselves more and experience the joy and beauty of the difference others present to us. Life feels richer and more fulfilling.
So we have the enigmatic paradox of being unique individuals energetically connected to everyone and everything else. When we all bring our authenticmix of energy, the world becomes more beautiful. How wonderful when we tap into our inner resources and stay in the flow - the flow of positive energy that is available to each of us.
