Looking Inward
When life brings new opportunities for personal growth, for many it also brings an opportunity to reflect on where we have been. To look inside one’s self and feel gratitude for lessons learned and sometimes lessons not learned is a beautiful thing. When life moves you in a new direction of expansion, taking time to assess your inner compass can help you to make the right decisions for yourself in the moment. The practice of looking inward can be a much needed catalyst for an individual’s growth bringing with it clarity and peace of mind. It can most notably bring greater hope for the future and an excitement about what this next level of expansion will bring to us all.
Looking inward can be a very personal experience but it can also be a global experience as well. As an evolving planet, the last few decades have brought us to a point of reflection that is necessary for us to make the leap to a more peaceful, greener and loving world. This kind of globalization with its new environmental technologies and new understanding of the mind-body-spirit connection can only benefit us and our children’s children. Change can be glorious!
I would have to say that it is my role as a mother that has helped me focus inward the most. Having three young daughters look to me for guidance is a definite motivator. I often find myself wondering about their future and the many decisions they will make for themselves and for the world. Have I prepared them well? When challenged, will they take the time to get quiet and listen to their inner voice? Will life’s changing landscape empower their spirit? I wish that for them and so much more. I can offer them only what I have gained along the way. That and my unwavering love and support.
In this issue, you will find examples of the many ways available that we can tap into our internal resources. From daily meditation and art expression to the food choices we make, it is a practice worthy of exploration. We, at the Journal, hope it leads us all to new and exciting levels of self-discovery. Enjoy!
