Stillness

Stillness, what a great theme for this time of year.  Going into the holiday season, so many of us can get caught up in the frenzied activity of preparing for family get-togethers, parties and all of the running around that can go into gift giving and shopping.  Although I’ve released most of the pressure I can put on myself to create the illusion of the perfect holiday for friends and family, I can still be drawn into the hectic energy of the season.

The theme of Stillness reminds us how important it is to slow down and take time to reconnect with our Selves.  It’s a reminder to breathe and focus our attention inward – to that place, at the bottom of a deep breath, where the ego voice, pressing us to perfection and urgency is gently quieted and replaced with the knowing that everything is perfect, just as it is - the place of deep knowing that the truly important things in our lives are accomplished, not through hectic pushing but by gentle allowing.

It is from this place of Stillness that all change is born.

We, at Healing Garden Journal, are excited to be continuing the expansion we started in our Sept/Oct issue.  We’re especially excited about the way we’ve organized our content.  As you turn to our Table of Contents page you will see the Headings - Life and Living, Food and Facts, Health and Healing, and Simplify and Sustain.

The Life and Living section will highlight stories from the heart about living life!

The Food and Facts section will provide recipes, information and personal reflections to help us make self-nurturing choices for refueling our bodies.

The Health and Healing section will offer varied perspectives, guiding us on our journey to co-creating well-being.

The fourth section, Simplify and Sustain, will highlight what we, as world citizens, both individually and collectively are doing to help create a world that meets the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of all people today, as well as for those of future generations.  I’m heartened by subtle changes I see in just my own and neighboring towns.  More and more people, organizations and businesses are recognizing the need to make changes and that they have the ability to make a difference.

You will also see that we have added a Wanderings and Ponderings page to each issue.  This reflects our belief that we cannot make changes in the world without first stopping to see and feel the miracles of life before us each day.

Again, we invite you to step into the Stillness…
