Change Yourself... Change the World

by Willowbei Eversole

We are the conscious and unconscious authors of our lives. Some of us may find this a difficult truth to accept. Yet once we understand the concept we can work with it. We are in a position to make the changes we desire.

We change our world by changing ourselves. We change our everyday lives when we change our point of view. Our belief system, developed over the course of our lives, significantly affects how we see the world. If our life is less than we desire, it may be time to question our underlying attitudes. We can then start the process of letting go of old, outdated and false beliefs and replace them with the deep inner truth of Universal Oneness.

It is easy to write the words, “…replace them with the deep inner truth of Universal Oneness.” Each of us knows that giving up long-standing beliefs and values, even if they no longer serve, is difficult. Anyone who has ever had an addiction or experienced someone in addiction knows how difficult it is to change habit patterns. Yet many people successfully overcome addiction, move beyond destructive behavior and choose a more fulfilling life.

We are not alone in this journey. We have much support on both a physical and spiritual level. As we make the choice to change our inner belief system the Universe readily responds. We may be called to attend a lecture, pick up a book, listen to a piece of music or we may meet just the right person at the right time and they may say just the right thing. This is not coincidence; it is the hand of spirit offering support.

Gratitude, mindfulness, self-love and non-attachment are just a few of the tools available to us as we take this journey. Each person will find that they connect to some method that assists them. What worked yesterday may be replaced by another aspect today. Being open, flexible and willing to experience the world as a gift can be a powerful tool in itself.

It seems I am constantly reminding myself and those who read this column that as spiritual Beings living in physical bodies we are more than our physical world. Our purpose here on earth is deeper than the job we have or the money we make. We are here to rediscover our Oneness with Oneness. We are here to serve the higher good of all creation. We are here to live and prosper in peace, love, harmony, joy and truth. We are here to open to our innate ability to create our lives and our world.

Let us allow the energy of the new millennium to assist us as we come into our fullness. Let us be open to our ability to move beyond conflict and mistrust to a space of love and compassion. Let us welcome the wonder and the power of our spiritual nature. Let us fully embrace our Oneness. Together, let us consciously create a world of peace and harmony.
