Breast Health + Enhancement

by Gary S. Cools, Ph.D.

Breast health is a matter that concerns all women. Some experts say that 1 in 7 women will develop a cancer in their breast tissue. This rate is increasing 3 to 4 % per year, but the mortality rate is decreasing. Yes, they have mapped a gene that is linked to breast disease, but the presence of this genetic marker does not increase every year to justify the increase in disease. What is making the difference? It will take time to make many suspicions bona fide concerns. But there is essentially much good news.

Beyond genetic disposition, there needs to be a reason for the gene to fully express itself. Factors like dietary habits (eating junk food and foods with a high glycemic index like simple carbohydrates, eating large amounts of fatty foods) and deficiencies in diet (lacking omega 3 fatty acids and lacking fresh vegetables with their amino acids and fiber) account for much of the negative expression of our genetics. Obesity alone alters the hormonal terrain. Smoking reduces circulation for all of the 4 trillion cells. Heavy alcohol and street drug use leach the B vitamins out at a fast rate. Washing off pesticide residues with apple cider vinegar helps keep them out of your body where they, too, act like estrogens. Meats, poultry, and fish that are hormonally stimulated with estrogens (it’s legal) tilt the scale toward deranged health. Lack of exercise counts as a negative influence. Elasticisers (phthalates) act like an estrogen in the bloodstream. The elasticisers used to soften plastics in food containers can end up in the food if you microwave the food in the containers—better to remove the food and then heat in glass or ceramic.

Regular checkups are a must for early detection of any new issues.

In Canada, a concept of biological “sponges” is useful. Plain yogurt, MSM (methylsulfonylmethane, used to help with arthritic pain) and sodium alginate are a few of the supplements that act as “sponges” to remove traces of toxins and heavy metals that accumulate in the body.

All these and more assist the body in not triggering that gene that is linked to breast disease. Remember, fluids must move through the tissue, and factors that slow this down are not desirable.

Regarding breast enhancement, the surgeries are allowed but have risk. The types of plastics used in the implants are used elsewhere in the body for other implants, but usually not with the surface area of a breast implant. The body’s immune system may rebel against it. If you have a strong constitution, look at the website: http://www.siliconeholocaust.org/photos1a.html. The graphics may be disturbing to some. In fairness, a good number of women do not have bad reactions to the presence of the implants, especially not in the first 10 years.

Natural therapies for breast enhancement indeed work. They may work on homeopathic principles using traces of hormones to trigger the body to invest fat back into the tissue. They may involve biologically identical hormones in clinically significant doses for much the same purpose—getting micro deposits of fat to be held in the tissue. Or they may involve only herbs. Herbal programs usually involve three changes. The breast tissue will develop more tiny blood vessels called capillaries. The lymph system in the breast will increase in mass. And the tiny fatty deposits normal in developing breasts will begin to be held there again. The first two factors in the herbs, the capillary and lymph increases, are very healthy for breast tissue. Since the companies offering the hormonal products do not know details about the specific person buying their products, I hesitate to make them a first choice. The herbs have hundreds of years of history, and have no side effects. The user is advised to make sure that their diet includes omega 3,6,9 fatty acids as supplements while they are enhancing their breasts, and that a whey protein be added at about 25 grams a day. Tall slender people and Asians have more of a lag adding mass to breasts this way, and Africans have the easiest time, with Caucasians responding well in a moderate amount of time.

With the specific maintenance involved for breast health, changing cooking technique and content, staying with the exercise, keeping weight down, there is still an abundance of foods to eat, places to go, people to meet. Use the “sponges” (another would be any of the ‘green’ drinks with chlorophyll) to aid in draining out the offensive elements. And if you wish to enhance breast mass and contour, study the range of choices and make a long term choice that isn’t likely to hurt you. Or leave them somewhat small. Your value as a human will not have changed...
