Is Your Body Environmentally Friendly?
By Keli MacIntosh
When most people hear “environmentally friendly” they automatically think of things like the effect of global warming, the need for recycling, and the damage from toxic landfills or oil spills. I don’t want to make light of those issues (anyone who is familiar with my writing knows my feelings) but at this time I’d like to concentrate on the internal environment of your body.
If you have spent any amount of time with alternative practitioners, you are familiar with the idea of maintaining the delicate balance of your various internal systems. If your pH (acid/alkaline) balance is off, your absorption and hormone production can be negatively affected. An electrolyte imbalance can alter your cardiac function leading to irregular heart beats. An improper amount of minerals can raise your blood pressure and jeopardize cellular regeneration. So, do you know just how environmentally friendly your body is?
The imbalances mentioned above are part of the complex environment within your body, often referred to as your “internal milieu.” The internal milieu involves all parts of the body—down to and including the spaces between individual cells. Because of metabolic activities, this environment changes constantly. Examples of these changes include:
- strenuous exercise producing lactic acid.
- mineral-deficient foods hindering many regenerative processes.
- even healthy bodily functions such as cellular oxygenation can produce free radicals.
It is very important to know what is going on in your body at a microscopic level during these deviations from a balanced state. Unfortunately not much emphasis is put on monitoring these subtle changes.
A new perspective on the inner workings of our bodies developed years ago because of the research of Gunther Enderlein. He discovered that tiny organisms in our blood changed their level of development with changes in the internal milieu. In the preferred alkaline environment, these organisms exist as tiny circular entities that assist in clotting functions and cleansing. Later, when we die and our bodies become very acidic, they morph to a level of development more like a worm; and, at this stage, they complete the decomposition of our body. The concerning part is that, if the body is acidic from excess stress or a poor diet, these microorganisms change to a level where they can actually cause degeneration of tissues and lead to systems malfunction.
So how can someone tell what is happening to their internal milieu? By monitoring the body fluids (blood, urine and saliva). This analysis, referred to as Bio-Terrain Assessment, can detect subtle deviations in the internal milieu before a condition is advanced enough to cause the presentation of symptoms. This approach, based on the combined research of Reams, Revici, Vincent, McDaniel, and Riddick, gives an individual a scale by which to keep track of their internal balance. Think of this from a sailor’s perspective. Why wait until you collide with a coral reef when you can get signs to redirect your boat around it safely?
By running the numbers of assessment on the fluids of the body one can realize such things as a deficiency of electrical conductivity, excessive levels of oxidation, whether you tend to burn fats or carbohydrates, if your body favors an anabolic or catabolic state, as well as pH. The Bio-Terrain assessment is the secret to knowing how to keep your internal environment friendly.
May your lifestyle be a healthy one!
