Chop Wood, Ignite Fire

As half of a holistic business partnership pursuing our passion, I am drawn to the element of fire to describe this incredibly challenging and deeply satisfying venture. A small spark ignites within us illuminating a soul contract that explodes into an all consuming fire. We are mesmerized by the flame, driven by the intense heat, resculpted in its path, and gifted by its power of illumination.

The initial fire must be the fire from within; the drive to pursue what you are passionate about. You eat, sleep, and live your passion 24/7. You share it with all who are open to receive, and you will explore any means to see it manifest. It fuels you and it feeds you in all aspects of self: emotional, mental, physical, sexual, and spiritual. It is your life. You walk the talk. You know this is who you are and what your journey is about. This fire must be strong to fuel you through the challenges from inception to success as a holistic business owner.

Embrace the Spark: Listen to your inner voice. This is your intuitive knowing attempting to get your attention to own, embrace, and pursue your passion in this lifetime. Listen, listen, listen. Trust what it is that you hear and that keeps showing up in your life. It is there for a reason.

Fan the Flame: Sit with what keeps appearing in your thoughts and also physically in your life. When you envision these new ideas as a potential venture in your life, does your inner child get excited and want to jump in with both feet? Do your creative juices start to flow with endless ideas on how to build a business and to market it? Does it start to occupy your thoughts most of the day? Does fear step in and question your sanity? Expect it! This is part of the process. How committed are you to manifesting your business? The ego will do anything it can to sabotage your success! Are you committed enough to do whatever it takes to establish this business? Sell your home, relocate to a more viable area, work other jobs to support the business, give up luxuries you have become accustomed to?

Ignite the Passion: Excited? Committed? Afraid? Jump in! There is no security anywhere except in knowing and embracing your own gifts and skills. Security in working for others is an illusion. This is taking full responsibility for your life. Believe in yourself! Trust the process! And know it is a process. It will take you places you never dreamed of going. It will take on a life of its own! This is the journey of life. Life is what happens in the process.

Dance with the Flames: The greatest time for change is during chaos. If things get chaotic, know that you are in the midst of significant change for maximum effect with minimum effort. Go with the flow. Don’t fight it. You gain energy by going with instead of against. There is always an entry into the market for your business. The Universe is always shifting. What didn’t work in the past might work at another time or with a different approach. If people reject your idea, know it has nothing to do with you. It is where they are in their perception of life. Not all people will be open to alternative/holistic services and products in this lifetime.

Know that if it is your intent to create your own holistic business, nothing can stop it from materializing in your life. You must want this on all levels. On the surface you cannot say I want my own business and then let your itty bitty shitty committee in your head tell you that you are not worthy or that this is a crazy idea! The money and the connections will show up! However, you must give up exactly how you think it is going to materialize. You must give up your perception of what it is going to look like. It will test your belief in going with the flow and in trusting money and business connections to show up when you need them. There is nothing like it—being in the unknown and trusting the process. You will be in awe and amazement!

Collect a Big Pile of Firewood: The running joke in our home was how many logs my husband would have to put on the fire to get me to move off dead center. The fire needs to be hot enough to take action despite the fear. Some of us need more heat than others. To get a business off the ground, you need dreaming + action + belief in self. Thank whoever it is in your life who supports you. Thank them for stoking the fire. The fire will get hot, and you will take action. Believe me, I know. We went through a lot of logs, and my derriere got pretty hot! As our business evolves, our mantra still remains chop wood, ignite fire!! Embrace the flame. There is expansion, illumination, and enlightenment within fire.
