Living Our Wisdom
By Willowbei Eversole
Here, at the height of summer nature displays her richness, her fullness, her light, her freedom and so much more. Once again our loving Universe generously shows us just how vibrant life can be. As we contemplate the wonder outside us are we willing to open our eyes to the fullness within?
Our world today offers us many distractions, challenges and opportunities. We can open our hearts and allow our awareness to blossom, or we can feel overwhelmed. We can see the larger Universal picture or we can focus on the small and limited. We can accept our ability to shape our lives or we can give our power to situations and circumstances outside ourselves. Our attitude and awareness can determine the difference between confusion and awakening.
Some days I find myself disturbed and dismayed by what is going on in the world around me. Other days I find myself awakened and hopeful by the events I see. My view of the panorama before me is what makes it different.
We create the lives we live. Using our inner vision we form and shape our lives each and every moment of each and every day. Our emotions, our thoughts, our imagination play a key roll in how we view ourselves and the world.
How do I create peace in my individual life? How do I create cooperation and understanding as I move through my day? In what ways do I focus upon the differences between myself and others and in what ways do I honor the spiritual connection that is our true reality?
Thich Nhat Hanh reminds us that mindfulness is an important aspect of living a full and rich life. Marianne Williamson helps us understand that we have not, to this point, been willing to express the fullness of our personal spiritual empowerment. Great teachers throughout the ages have brought these messages to us in one way or another. We have not always listened. It is time to open our hearts and listen to this wisdom in a fuller and more complete way. It is time to take the steps necessary to live this wisdom in our lives each day.
Changing old habits and patterns is not the easiest thing we do as humans. Our desire to move forward is often stymied by the inertia we have developed over time. Sometimes we rehash and reshape things to look new when it is just the same-old-same-old painted a different color.
In my book, Common Sense for the 21st Century (a collection of essays, questions thoughts, and musings—and a few poems too), I point out that we already know answers to many of the questions we raise every day. We have a wealth of history and experience on which to draw. We know what works and we know what doesn’t work. We do not need to reinvent the wheel, we just need to get the egos out of the way and pass the wheel along.
Are we ready to allow ourselves to move into the Oneness that is our true nature? Are we ready to move beyond fear and greed to a level of cooperation and understanding that can (and will) bring true prosperity for all? Can we admit that we do have what it takes to see beyond the immediate horizon and live in ways that foster the health of the planet and thus our own health?
We are wonderful, powerful, dynamic, loving spiritual Beings living a physical existence. We are on this planet in physical form for a reason. This physical existence offers us great opportunity to express our spiritual nature and reflect the Oneness that is our essence.
Let us open our hearts and affirm the truth of who we are. Let us take steps each day to more fully express the wonder of our spiritual nature. Let us embrace our empowerment and our Oneness and help create a world that is joyous, loving, prosperous, cooperative and peaceful. Lets us believe in ourselves and shape our lives in ways that reflect that belief. By taking one step at a time, by radiating one smile at a time, by expressing one peaceful thought at a time, we can change the world.
Dynamic and alive
the liquid magic
of my soul
calls to me
calls me to a purpose
holy and pure
loving and kind
deep within I know
my own ability to know
deep within I understand
my own willingness to connect
to
the God within myself
to
the God within you
Passion stirs me
to heights once thought impossible
leaving me breathless with anticipation
my dreams become reality before my eyes
my nightmares fade into the mist
this is my life to live in joy
spirit feeds my vision
I come to you intact
whole and alive in this moment
for that is who I am
Deep within my prayers
inner knowing finds clarity
profound understanding
accepted without doubt
in prayer and meditation
truth gently reveals itself
opening my conscious mind
to the wisdom of time
purposefully I initiate loving action
changing me
changing you
changing all
Crouching behind my own doubt
peeking out into the silence
eager to see light
beyond the horizon
the real me awakens
ready to risk it all for truth
willing to walk with quiet grace
and gentle determination
into the great unknown
willing to participate
willing to experience
life in all its fullness
willing to unmask myself
in the service of Oneness
willing to open my heart
to the magic that is me
willing to discover
the greatness within my Being
willing to live
I am myself though I deny it
I am holy
I am sacred
I am wise
I am loving
I am peaceful
I am my own magic
I am myself though I reject it
I am kind
I am understanding
I am cooperative
I am empowered
I am joyous
I am my own mystery
I Am the Being I Am
