Spring

By Michael Wetzel

Spring broke out today.
Busted up, plowed out,
exploded in a flourish
of vibrancy and candor.

It just busted out the seams
of sodden earthen places,
plowed out new fields
of freshness and vigor.

Plowed out it did.
Old fields, new plots,
exploding around boulders
of solidity and vibrancy.

It simply exploded through
hardened soils and sodden pathways.
Flourishing, vibrant, with true candor
and vigorous vibrancy.
Spring broke out today.

Michael Wetzel currently teaches writing courses
for Lansing Community College.
